China Big Data Intelligence study results presentation was held at the second Smart China Expo (SCE) at 5:10 p.m., August 26. Four reports including China Intellectual Development Report (2019), China Big Data Application Development Report (2019) and China 5G Application Development White Paper (2019) by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology were released at the conference. The reports systematically analyzed the development level of the Big Data Intelligence sector of China to provide a reference to relevant application and industrial development in various provinces and cities.

Chongqing takes the lead in providing an intelligence policy environment

China Intellectual Development Report (2019) gave a synthetic evaluation on the development environment, intelligence industry, smart manufacturing, fusion application, and innovation abilities of 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities of China. The top five provinces and cities in intelligence development environment index are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Chongqing, and Jiangsu. Regarding smart manufacturing, the top five provinces and cities are Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Zhejiang. As for intelligence fusion application, the top five provinces and cities are Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Beijing. According to the report, Chongqing takes the lead among western cities in the development level of intelligence. Specifically, its intelligence policy environment is among the best in the country, and several fields in its intelligence industry have achieved breakthroughs. Besides, smart manufacturing in the city has been boosted with steady steps. By the end of 2018, Chongqing ranked the 9th in China and the 2nd among western provinces in the application of industrial cloud platforms.

5G-driven output value in China to exceed RMB 1 Trillion, 5G base stations in Chongqing to reach 60,000 in 2 years

At the conference, China 5G Application Development White Paper (2019) (White Paper for short) was released. It is estimated in the White Paper that the economic output value directly driven by commercial use of 5G will amount to 10.6 trillion RMB from 2020 to 2025; the total investment in 5G network will reach between 900 bnRMB and 1.5 tn; typical enterprises will have business revenue of 1.9 tn RMB during the same period, and 5G will directly create 3 million jobs.

The White Paper also indicated that Chongqing is equipped with favorable underlying conditions for developing 5G industry. Firstly, it has sufficient fundamental support from infrastructure. Currently, Chongqing has nearly 100,000 4G base stations. In the next two years, 60,000 5G base stations will be set in the city. Secondly, Chongqing has a rapidly growing information communication industry that consolidated the foundation for the development of 5G. In particular, it has certain reserves in key sections of the 5G industry such as chips, modules, and components. The free trade zone has established a platform for the application of 5G in Chongqing. A clear layout for Big Data Intelligence has vitalized the development of 5G. The China 5G Application Development White Paper (2019) reveals that there are over 350 data centers across China. Among them, the number in provinces including Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong each reaches up to 20. Chongqing also develops fast in the application of big data. In 2018, its big data development index ranked at the 9th nationwide (up one place) and the 2nd among western provinces and cities. In conclusion, the big data application in Chongqing is above the average level of China and the western areas.
